Good job done in bringing the building down but i am very sure the buildings and soil around must have been weakened. Might not be realised now but with time the effects will be felt. Any future developments around that area must carefully & closely be supervised.

A fire outbreak at the Akosombo Substation a while ago has caused a disruption in power generation. As a result, power supply has been affected in some parts of the country. A full evaluation is currently underway to determine the extent of the impact and to enable technical teams to commence processes to restore normal operations as swiftly as possible. We kindly urge the public to remain calm and be assured that the situation is under control.

I visited the Jaway Wharf community with the Board Members of Ghana Maritime Authority to gain first-hand insight into current marine transport activities. As a border town, most movement in the area is done by boats. We engaged community members on the importance of safety in their daily operations. We also held discussions with the Ghana Navy and Ghana Immigration Service, who shared some of the challenges they face. In response to persistent complaints from residents of Pipeline Estate, we have taken firm action against a notorious strip club operating in the heart of the residential area. The establishment has been a constant source of noise pollution, severely disrupting the peace and wellbeing of the surrounding community. It is unacceptable for such a business to operate in the middle of a residential estate, where families and children live. We want to assure the public that we will not allow this to continue. POLICE WARN AGAINST UNLAWFUL PROTESTS AHEAD OF INAUGURATION By Victoria Kayeye Yambani The Zambia Police Service has issued a strong warning against planned unlawful processions, assemblies and protests across the country, including during Tuesday’s presidential inauguration. Police Inspector General Graphel Musamba says the Service has received credible intelligence that certain groups and individuals are mobilising and inciting members of the public to participate in unlawful protests. He says police are also aware of efforts to mobilise people to protest against the detention of certain suspects currently in police custody. While acknowledging that Article 21 of the Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of assembly and association, Mr Musamba says the right must be exercised within the law and is subject to limitations necessary to maintain public safety and order and protect the rights and freedoms of others. The Police Chief says the Zambia Police Service has a constitutional and statutory responsibility to maintain law and order, protect life and property, and ensure public safety and security. He has warned that anyone who participates in, organises, facilitates or supports unlawful activities will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law. Members of the public have also been cautioned against being incited into violence, obstructing lawful activities or engaging in any conduct that amounts to a criminal offence. A 1.2km buffer zone has been set up around the building as authorities finalize preparations for its demolition. The building was declared structurally unsound after a partial collapse last week, which raised immediate safety issues for nearby residents and surrounding structures. In response, all residents have been evacuated, with precautionary measures in place to ensure their safety. Patients from Coast General Teaching & Referral Hospital have also been advised to seek medical services in alternative hospitals during the affected period to avoid any risks associated with the operation. The public has been urged to stay clear of the vicinity for the next eight hours, as the demolition is carried out. Emergency services, including ambulances and fire trucks, are on standby to handle any unforeseen events during the controlled explosion. The collapse is believed to have been caused by the addition of extra floors, which added more weight than the foundation could support. A tanker loaded with diesel fell on top of Liverpool Bridge inward Mile 2. The tanker sustained damage, leading to the spillage of diesel across the bridge and on the road beneath. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other relevant agencies, are already on ground and have successfully contained the situation to prevent escalation. We urge members of the public to exercise restraint, caution, and civic responsibility.
