The PLL raising $100 million and people acting like they’re doing more than the NLL is diabolical. What people should be asking is: weren’t the players supposed to be investors in the league from the very beginning? Now they’re bringing in more investors, including ESPN, which they want everyone to believe is this amazing TV deal. From sources within the PLL, I’ve been told ESPN acquired a 42% stake in the PLL as part of securing that TV deal. Yes, the PLL brought in investors. Yes, they raised money. But every time you bring in outside investors, the ownership pool gets diluted including the player side of things. So who actually owns the PLL now? They’ve reportedly gone through multiple investment rounds already. If that’s the case, it raises another question: Did they run out of money and need another capital raise just to keep the league going? If so, that could also help explain why more players are returning to summer ball. Raising $100 million is a headline. The real questions are about ownership, sustainability, and whether the league can eventually stand on its own financially. Video Credits: The Creators Game Podcast
