The PM must resign. It should have been morally obvious that a known associate of a convicted paedophile and sex trafficker should not be our US ambassador. The decision is clearly indefensible and the PM cannot credibly continue.

I found the Prime Minister’s defence of Peter Mandelson at PMQs today quite appalling. Saying Mandelson “regrets” doing business dealings with a convicted paedophile is no defence. This man should be nowhere near government and the PM’s refusal to sack him today does a disservice to victims. The PM should listen to Epstein’s victims and sack him.

Why should we care about her personal circumstances? Nobody listens to ours. She’s not a private citizen — she’s the Deputy PM. This isn’t about sympathy, it’s about avoiding tax. Mandelson never should have been appointed given his known association with a convicted paedophile. The Prime Minister was then slow to sack him, slow to remove the whip, and slow to apologise. Like many people, I am angry. I have to be honest and say once again that we need a change at the top.
