Red Ranger Ricardo Medina, Jr. [Cole Evans] features in his original Morph Sequence, shot on Day 1 of Production [November 29, 2001]. The full-body silhouette from this footage was used briefly in the Wild Force Logo’s Opening Animation, and his head in profile seems to have been leveraged for his final morph sequence; but even then, the Red Ranger neck and shoulders in that shot were from Gaoranger. This original morph sequence was still a recreation of the Gaoranger Henshin; exactly why the full footage was shot and never used remains unknown. Neither Aurico [David Bacon] or Leo / Lost Galaxy Red [Danny Slavin] were meant to appear unmorphed in the 10th Anniversary Special, as their actors hadn’t agreed to reprise their roles at the point in time Forever Red was originally shot. And so, the Red Aquitar Ranger only features his Ranger Morph Pose here; and no additional footage of a morph was shot. ![The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents LOST Lost Galaxy: Erin Simms as Maya Part 2! Shot on the same day as Maya’s recovered morphed scene onboard the Astro Megaship we debuted last year, this scene begins at the beginning of Episode 3 — as Maya navigates unseen corridors of Terra Venture to access the Astro Megaship after hearing the call of the Galactabeasts. Slightly extended from the final scene featuring Cerina Vincent, this version has a number of differences. Erin Simms once again appears as the originally cast Maya, this time revealing Maya’s original costume! Rather than modernizing her look from Mirinoi as we saw in the aired series, this version of Maya customized a beige Terra Venture jumpsuit instead — presumably in a bid to better fit in on her new-found home, tearing off her now-frayed sleeves to make it her own. She is also shown to have a more difficult time acclimating to technology than her final on-screen iteration. Also getting to flex a different take on his character is Reggie Rolle, who plays Damon a little more loosely and laid back than in the reshoot — spinning in sync to his comment about having him “around.” Damon’s jumpsuit has added the abstract Terra Venture badge to the left chest, consistent with the rest of his team in this scene — each with a solid bar matching their Ranger color [including Maya]. Alyson Kiperman [Sullivan] in raw footage from the Original Wild Force Yellow Morph Sequence — captured on the very first day of production on the series. Look closely and you’ll spot Cinematographer Sean McLin and Director Makoto Yokoyama working with Alyson to get the shot just right! Taylor Earhardt is the longest tenured Wild Force Ranger and the first to join the team. She was the leader before Cole joined the team, leveraging her tactical air force training to fight the Orgs for over a year before the series took place. The original morph sequences were still carbon copies of the Gaoranger Henshin, but would go un-used in the series in favor of footage that pasted US actor heads on the Gaoranger bodies. Some of this footage did find its way into the series however, appearing in the opening theme’s logo animation — the silhouette posing beneath the ‘Power Rangers’ logo before giving way to ‘WILD FORCE’. Shot on November 29, 2001 and directed by Stunt Coordinator Makoto Yokoyama, Alyssa [Jessica Rey]’s Morph is the last of the original morph footage to release in its entirety [as Black was not shot that first day]. Per the rest of the series, the footage captures the same content as the Gaoranger Henshin and was recycled for Alyssa’s silhouette in Wild Force’s Logo Animation. In the final Wild Force morph as aired, Jessica Rey’s head [from additional footage not seen here] is pasted onto Gao White’s body [knees together, vs. staggered footing here] in the full-body shot. In profile however, Jessica’s head from this sequence is used — but only from the chin, up. From the collar down, that’s Gao White! ![The #PowerRangersPreservationProject Presents The Lost Wild Force Premiere Epilogue! The raw footage recovered from VHS production dailies reveals the original final scene of Wild Force’s first episode. The teens return to the Animarium after defeating Turbine Org, greeted by Princess Shayla and the Wildzords. This scene features the only in-series look at the actors in their spandex, previously seen in unit photography used in different print projects over the years; also notably featuring the original actress and design for Princess Shayla [Natasha Allas]. While we didn’t have access to the scripted scene for reference, we constructed the most likely configuration based on the scenes available. We also recycled the narration placed over Lionheart’s Final Air ending scene [Sentai footage of the team] to present this new scene as seamlessly as possible. The reason why production opted to leverage a few more seconds of Sentai footage rather than reshoot this scene once Princess Shayla was recast is unknown; although a plausible guess would be that it was quicker, cheaper, and easier. Directed by Koichi Sakamoto, this quick combat shot was meant to appear earlier in the montage of various Ranger pairings in pursuit of the Mut-Orgs, after which Jen and Alyssa continue on their raid before coming across another group of Putrids [which they take out with Chrono Blasters]. Also included in this clip is the second part of the sequence, as Jen and Alyssa continue their hunt. Erin Cahill and Jessica Rey hit a quick Charlie’s Angels-like power pose before cameras roll. Celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth with Selwyn Ward [“TJ”], who broke ground as the first African American Red Ranger in franchise history. Though TJ went on to become the Blue Ranger in Power Rangers in Space, he reprised his Turbo Red Morph for the series’ 10th Anniversary Special. This Anatomy of a Scene by Kadam’s Edits includes raw Morph Call Footage as well as Ranger Pose Footage — demonstrating the crew’s dedication to precision when it comes to syncing up the actor, stunt performer, and camera moves. Selwyn’s missed insertion of his Turbo Key into the Turbo Morpher was meant to be disguised by red energy VFX [as seen in the original series], but was missed or omitted from the VFX workflow for the special. Sourced from our digitized batch of Final Air copies, we’re kicking off 2025 with this opening credits instrumental primed for convention karaoke — including both the instrumental and SFX tracks, leaving the endearingly hokey overlaid sound effects intact. This is Version 2.1 of the Wild Force Opening Credits, which includes Merrick and elements from the latter half of the season, as well as the third version of Alyson Kiperman’s Cast Credit Card — a response to audience testing in an attempt to make Taylor appear softer and more accessible. Full proper instrumental versions of PR themes are difficult to find, as they lacked official releases and were always truncated to the :30s versions for official usage [over the end credits]. Though the SFX are still intact, this clip ensures Wild Force can be checked off the full instrumental season theme wish list. Wild Access! Worth nothing — this discovery could have been completely overlooked had we not been carefully reviewing what seemed to be an otherwise benign VHS copy; which we hope helps shed some light on the time it can take to properly review these assets once they’ve been digitized to make sure we don’t miss anything. Voice Actor Michael Sorich and Supervising Director of ADR [and future Co-Producer] Scott Page-Pagter discuss the Automated Dialogue Replacement process, with Michael demonstrating dubbing Squatt in the studio [ad-libs over an unrelated scene when Lord Zedd is watching Goldar get accosted by a young Bulk and Skull in Angel Grove Park]. Though perhaps most well known as Squatt, Michael Sorich voiced a number of other iconic monsters including Pineoctopus, Terror Toad, Pumpkin Rapper, Polluticorn, and Vampirus from MMPR, other monsters of the day through Wild Force, and even made an on-screen appearance as the Onyx Auctioneer who sold off the Pink Quasar Saber [Lost Galaxy]. Beyond producing over 450 episodes of Power Rangers [and overseeing ADR across VR Troopers, Masked Rider, and even Beetleborgs], the late Scott Page-Pagter often voiced monsters too; stepping into the booth for Picketer, Pirantishead, and Face Stealer from MMPR; and most notably Divatox’s portly henchman Porto. Celebrating #PowerRangersDay with this restored deleted scene from Season 10’s epic Red Ranger Reunion, painstakingly built from scratch by the talented Kadam’s Edits from the recovered raw dailies by PR Media Info. Presumably cut for time, this scene took place on the Megaship Mark II between taking off from NASADA and Tommy’s team briefing in the war room. Andros leads the other Red Rangers of Earth down the hall — TJ feeling right at home aboard the familiar ship; Jason stoically impressed; Eric stoked in front of Wes; Carter in awed silence; and finally Cole, taking in the experience with childlike innocence. Getting lost staring into space, the Blazing Lion is interrupted by Alpha 7 — originally properly introduced in this scene as a walking database of everything Power Rangers. Having grown up in the jungle and never seen a robot before, Cole reacts to the automaton with wonder. We teased this footage years ago before launching the Preservation Project, and we’re proud to finally present this lost scene as it was intended — complete with music and sound, special effects, and a very special feature by Campbell Cooley as Alpha 7! ![In honor of [Guardians of the] Earth Day, we’re upcycling unseen footage of Original ‘Princess Shayla’ Natasha Allas from Wild Force! While the role was ultimately recast with Ann Marie Crouch as Princess Shayla, the character was also entirely redesigned — swapping out the original’s pinks for blues, among other tweaks. Natasha Allas shot several episodes before departing the production, and her version of Princess Shayla can still be seen illustrated in The Legend of Animarium storybook [Click, Click, Zoom]. Natasha even filmed the ‘Beauty Shot’ used for her would-be Opening Credit slate, also seen here in its raw format [without sound]. While Ann Marie Crouch’s Beauty Shot was filmed in front of the Temple’s Sacred Water / Gorilla Fountain, Natasha Allas’ was filmed sitting on the edge of the flower-covered bed Princess Shayla laid in a deep sleep before being reawakened. And thanks to Adam 🏴, we’re able to see what Natasha’s credit might’ve looked like edited into the credits!
