I have been following the emerging fallout between the President & Parliament & this here is my highlight so far. The legislator here was asking whether there's anything this Parliament hasn't done for the President (emphasis on "FOR THE PRESIDENT"). "This President gave us a Finance Bill (2024) that was very unpopular, we passed it FOR HIM. This President gave us the Housing Levy that was very unpopular, we passed it FOR HIM. This President has asked us to pass SHA, we sat here until 10:00pm & passed it FOR HIM. What haven't we done FOR HIM? What has this parliament not done FOR THE PRESIDENT that he now has to come & bastardise us. Let him do his job" This right here is the problem some of us have been flagging for years - Parliament simply forgot its job & whose brief it holds in that House. Separation of powers doesn't exist, checks & balances are a rumour.
