The problem for Protestants is they don’t believe there is any sacrifice in their religion. The highest form of worship they offer to God is praise. So when they see Catholics venerating relics or honoring Saints, all they can see is worship. They need their eyes & hearts opened.

The problem with this is that you think that venerating relics or honouring saints is sacrifice. As a Protestant my whole religion is based upon sacrifice - the sacrifice of Christ, once for all, on the Cross....everything else is stardust...

No. 🤦‍♀️ It’s precisely not sacrifice. The ignorance is breathtaking.

At least represent your opponent correctly before criticizing. Just because we don’t carry skulls around like a bunch of pagans doesn’t mean we don’t believe in sacrifice towards God.

Bree Solstad's profile picture

You don’t even know what Pagans are, think, or believe. The level of sheer stupidity here is off the charts.

AJ's profile picture

Of course I do. Pagan it’s just a word Christians used to describe beliefs and practices that are not Christian. Parading around deceased skulls and body parts is not Christian, and is therefore pagan.

@BreeSolstad Given that the Catholic Church is the only Christian church founded by Jesus himself, by your own words, protestants are pagan?

@BreeSolstad That is simply not true

@BreeSolstad Except that it is... maybe someday you'll see it. Protestants saying otherwise are simply out of touch with the Word of God.

Correct. We believe a sacrifice was made once, for all (Hebrews 10:10). We don’t need prick one of Jesus’ veins for a fresh infusion every Communion service because it wasn’t good enough the first time.

The only way to please God is by faith. I believe in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm a filthy sinner saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus. Hebrews 11:6 NKJV [6] But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

@BreeSolstad You worship God by helping your neighbour, not just saying you should. Praise is not the job, not even half. That was Jesus's whole deal. So many parables about who would make it into heaven and you chose to hug the most simplistic and lazy interpretation

Scott's profile picture
Scott1 month ago

@BreeSolstad My salvation isn't based on anything I do. It's based on what Jesus Christ did. I'll be judged on the righteousness of Jesus not mine because all I bring is filthy rags.

Scyllo's profile picture

@BreeSolstad This is why protestants are not taken seriously. Because of guys like you who think saying they believe is the entire job. Complete dereliction of the most important teachings of the new testament. Being a shepherd is not a desk job, brother. You should know, you need one

Scott's profile picture
Scott1 month ago

That's your assumption. The most important teaching of Jesus is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. As a born again believer of Jesus Christ we now have become a new creation and the Holy Spirit now dwells in you convicting and guiding us. Daily you'll be changed and conformed into a image of Christ. II Corinthians 3:16-18 NKJV [16] Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. [17] Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. [18] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Ezekiel 36:26 NKJV [26] I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

What are you talking about? Of course we believe in sacrifice. But it already happened — once for all time. Hebrews 10:14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. Every single sacrifice that occurred in the OT was pointing towards this ultimate sacrifice. Now, we look back to what Jesus did.

Bree, the Catholic Church disagrees with you. Read the Catechism on the First Commandment. Sacrifice is only one of many ways to worship God. Every act of adoration is worship, not just sacrifice. And our Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, having been justified by faith in baptism, sharers in the life of grace and the Holy Spirit with us, adore and worship God, and offer spiritual sacrifices. In fact, every time they preach the Cross, receive the benefits of the Cross, and believe in the Cross, they are in essence and at proximity participating in the sacrifice of the Mass.

@TD_Barrett Adoration. You don’t seem to know what that means either.

? That’s a standard technical term in Catholic theology for the kind of honor/worship that is due God alone

Holy Moly, what a farcical stupid statement, We 100 percent believe in sacrifice. We believe what scripture says about Jesus that he was the final all sufficient sacrifice. Only need to performed once, the book of Hebrews would like a word with you and this guy. Does that mean nothing to you, once, done, the Passover is a reminder of what Christ has done. Hebrews 10:1-18 says "For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Consequently, when Christ[a] came into the world, he said, “Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; 6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings you have taken no pleasure. 7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God, as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’” 8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. 11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ[b] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. 15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, 16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” 17 then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” 18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin."

Through Him then, let’s continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips praising His name. - Hebrews 13:15! NASB95

If only they read Hebrews, they wouldn't be embarrassing themselves "And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary." Hebrews 10:12: "But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God." Hebrews 10:14: "For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." Hebrews 9:26: "But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself." Hebrews 7:27: "He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself." Hebrews 7:23-28 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Offering God praise IS offering a sacrifice to God. Offering Mary praise IS offering a sacrifice to Mary. Now maybe you're starting to understand why Christians for 1700 years have called you idolators? Because this, too, is an offering to the Queen of Heaven idol elevated upon a high place in that "temple", for her crushing the devil's head.
