The first was at the great faith of a Roman centurion who asked Him to simply speak the word and his servant would be healed. This was a man who was not raised on Scripture—quite the opposite. Yet somehow he understood authority. He believed that if Jesus just said the word, it would be done. And Jesus was amazed at his simple, confident, powerful faith. The second time Jesus was amazed was at the unbelief of the people in His own hometown of Nazareth when He declared Himself to be the Messiah.
