@crungeoneer I think it works because magic belongs to the realm of language and not the natural world. It's not mechanistic - it should be impossible.

My main problem with Time travel movies is honestly that it is a movie plot. lets face it, people CONSTANTLY overestimate their value in the world. Realistically, if you changed something things "might" change but also... eh, most likely nothing would actually really change.

It's not a plothole if they explain that the gizmotron and the reconfubalor work in tandem to compensate for this very problem. The science is VERY clear on this.
