I thought it was abolished?

The Pentagon absorbing USAID’s mission is peak bureaucratic bloat. Forcing military commands to manage humanitarian aid distracts from core defense priorities—lethality, readiness, warfighting. USAID’s dismantling left a vacuum, and now DoD scrambles to coordinate NGOs, disaster response, and stabilization ops it’s not structured to handle. This isn’t efficiency—it’s mission creep that weakens both security and aid effectiveness. When the military juggles roles it wasn’t designed for, taxpayers lose twice: wasted dollars and diluted focus. Real reform means rebuilding civilian capacity, not overloading warriors with peacetime bureaucracy.

... USAID to anything....
