i remeber when we signed him, bayern fans said he’s a striker not a winger, would that get the best out of his ball striking and all around play

I’d be intrigued to see it, worry about his ability to receive in the tighter spaces in centre But have to find a way to maximise his ability

Lot of it is due to the sheer churn of managers at Spurs and the fact that each has asked him to do different roles etc. Most of Spurs’ young players have had similar issues.

It feels like really often over the last few seasons the problem with our performances hasn’t been the quality of player (although that has been subpar) but all of the players being asked to play in ways that doesn’t at all make use of any of their best qualities

Someone needs to strap Mathys Tel to a chair, tape his eyelids open and make him watch 10,000 hours of Sonny clips 😂 That’s the blueprint. This is Tel’s season for me — I don’t need miracles, just improvement. If he develops, keep him. If he regresses, we need a conversation

Appreciate your attempts to bring this kid up ..no matter how you wanna dress it..the kid is not good enough...only thing good about him is his injury record. Yes available but that's becoming a problem too. He should leave England an play abroad

I think this is exactly what RDZ was trying to tell him after the game. There is potential there for sure but it’s up to Tel to listen and learn to reach that potential

I always ask myself what training do these guys do in the summer because it seems like it he did not improve

Best bet would be to model his game after Son imo

It’s just decision making with him.. just want him when he gets the ball to either decide to hit the line and cross early or cut inside and shoot what he does is gets caught between the two and Defenders get set and chance is gone.

100%. It’s weird that at his level he hasn’t sorted out these basics. He must realise he’s not imposing himself on games and that his productivity stats are extremely low? Yet we’re not seeing any change or improvement. As a player wouldn’t you be changing & trying stuff?

No idea if it’s accurate tbh. BUT it’s clear he needs to try something else. Is he prepared to do it though? 🤷‍♀️

I was so gassed when we signed him coz I knew the Tel at Renne. Thinking we’ll get the best out of him. But that has not been the case
