The Five-Sided Sealed Pentagonal Wall was built by the Umayyad Caliph Al-Walid I who was a Tabi'un he rebuilt and significantly expanded the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, incorporating the house (Chamber) of our Propehtﷺ into the main structure for the first time. Umar ibn Abdul Aziz (his great, grandfather was Umar r.a) was tasked by Al Walid I, with expanding the Prophet’s Mosque. The thick wall which the narrator talks about was built because by that time, the original mud-brick walls built during the Prophet’sﷺ lifetime were nearly a century old and deteriorating. Enclosing the room within an outer stone shell protected the fragile original space of Aisha's chamber from collapsing under environmental wear and from the pressure of the vast crowds of pilgrims that the expanded mosque was designed to accommodate. The Five-Sided Sealed Pentagonal Wall was then built because inside the mosque if the enclosure were rectangular, someone praying behind the chamber in the northern section of the mosque would be facing a flat wall directly behind which lay the Prophet's grave. So only the northern outer wall was angled into a triangle, while the other sides remained straight. Umar ibn Abdul Aziz was not fighting widespread "grave-worship" or shirk with this design and it was also not because it looked like the Kaaba. Early scholars framed this as precautionary engineering (Sadd al-Dhara'i'): preventing even the unintentional appearance or future habit of facing a tomb during prayer. The 3 walls where not built to prevent possibility of worshipping the Prophetﷺ. All there had other reasons for it, and none of them had anything to do with shirk. At the time of the expanding of the Propehts Mosque Scholars only complained because it did not preserving the Prophet's Example of Simplicity not the dangers of Shirk. Like Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib’s objection was not about graves or shirk. His objection was about preserving the living memory of the Prophet's modesty and asceticism (Zuhd). Ibn Sa'd and Al-Samhudi record that when the imperial decree came from Damascus to demolish the living quarters of the Prophet's wives, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib said: "By Allah, I wish that they had left them as they were, so that the people of Medina who grow up, and those who come from the horizons, could see what satisfied the Messenger of Allah during his lifetime, so that people would abstain from competing in building and stockpiling wealth."
