Huge turnout in Fujisawa against the planned mosque, protesters say they don't want a mosque or a Muslim cemetery in their city. Part of the anger is over scale, the proposed building would reportedly dwarf the Shinto shrine nearby. The other part is that Fujisawa, like many other Japanese cities, is seeing a surge of South Asian and Kurdish migrants who are not only taking jobs from young Japanese men but also changing the social fabric. Soon, it will be irriversable. Japan has very few mosques and almost no history of large-scale Muslim immigration, until now.
