The pros of wrestling non D1

Making it through 4 years of college wrestling, regardless of division, is a bigger accomplishment than most people realize. I give the D1 guys a lot of credit. Those guys LIVE the lifestyle. All year around.

The cons... You can't compete in @CKAwrestling Las Vegas anymore because DI's complained when losing head on to non DI guys. IDEA: Don't send your RS to non DI hosted opens then either.

I would agree...as one who wrestled DIII on an academic scholarship, I was able to start all 4 years and had a great experience....went on to coach at the jr. league and HS level for 17 yrs [5 state titles]...find the right fit wrestling/academics/financially

I’m sure the intent was positive but, saying “…nothing wrong with D2 or D3” highlights how we often devalue non-D1 sports. It’s a little like how we condescendingly view trade schools (vs college) despite the clear and positive value proposition for so many.

As an official that has seen it all from JuCo to D1, it's all about the heart and the fight in the athlete.
