I’ll respectfully disagree with this assertion. I would say that the way Palestinians are often portrayed in Islamic clothing living in basic rudimentary dwellings (necessary now their cities have been destroyed) and Israelis as first world suit wearing businessmen is done for the opposite reason. I believe it is done to fit the Palestinians in with the western media and films idea of what a “terrorist” looks like, to dehumanise them and make you think that they must be the bad guys because they seem just like the “terrorists” we see in movies where as the Israelis? Well they’re “just like us”. Whether you like to admit it I meet many Israelis in Bucharest. They always tell me their grandparents are from here, they moved there from Romania. Many Israelis when asked where their grandparents or great grandparents came from will say Poland or Hungary followed by a disclaimer that “oh but we’re from here originally 2000 years ago”. I’ve also met many Palestinians and not a single one has Eastern European grandparents. Tried to be respectful here but I’m prepared for backlash.
