Sure, Luther was loud, gassy, and often unhinged. But this take reads more into his tone than theology. He quoted the Fathers constantly, challenged real abuses, and begged people NOT to follow him but urged them instead to test everything by Scripture.

I did not read Luther until after I became Lutheran. Backwards, I know. The narcissism shocked me. That’s when I started on the road to Catholicism.

Catholics think Protestants bey Luther because they treat the pope that way.

Luther did get the church to get its act together, that’s one massive thing that he did do right

If Martin Luther was born in 1800s New York I guarantee he would just be another Joseph Smith or Charles Taze Russell
