I believe the media is being disingenuous about Republican Mark Robinson’s comments on women voting. The Huffington Post and other outlets reported that he said: “I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote. Do you wanna know why?” And it’s true he did. But the problem is that they aren’t reporting on the entire context in which he said: “I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote. Do you wanna know why? Because in those days we had people who fought for real social change. And they were called Republicans. And they are the reason why women can vote today.” Context matters. Regardless of this, Mark Robinson is not a good person. But the media needs to do better.
