The reason the idea that “both sides” commit political violence is so offensive is not only that it’s false; it’s that it reassigns to the Right to half the guilt of a crime committed against them, while not one Democrat has apologized for the rhetoric they shared with the killer

Democrats did a steady drumbeat of “All Trump supporters are Nazis” for ten years. This was intended to create a permission structure that made violence acceptable. I’m not unifying with anyone who beat this drum or condoned it.

After Butler PA the same hand of unity was extended and then what happened? Within days they were right back to calling us all an existential fascist threat and every position we have comes from hate and not just a difference of opinion. That is why their words are hollow now.

Not sure there’s a smarter voice in the public square than Batya. I’ve been following her a long time and few remember that she was more left than right. The left radicalizes brilliant women like this, to go further to the right. You can dog whistle a lot of these dolts, but this is one person who is repelled by the lies and propaganda. The left’s argument that “both sides are to blame”is the equivalence of saying rape is a man and woman problem since out of all the rape crimes committed every year, two or three out of the hundreds of 1000s are committed by women. It’s a preposterous argument

"Both sides do it" means, "The other guys did it, we have no responsibility." That's all it ever meant.

Is "rhetoric they shared with the killer" a reference to "fascist"? If so, both sides -- starting with Trump -- have accused each other of that. In my view, the all-out campaign to portray the Democratic Party as "the party of murder" has far less to do with Kirk than it does about Trump, Vance and Miller using his murder as a justification for what Miller said would be an effort to root out left-wing"domestic terror networks." You're kidding yourself if you believe otherwise, or you're complicit and you actually welcome federal government repression based on political views. If this effort proceeds, it will be interesting to see if you have a threshold -- a point at which you no longer would support it.
