The relationship between capitalism and colonialism. My points: *Pre-colonial African societies were never capitalist. *Commercial activities ≠ Capitalism. *Africa is capable of developing indigenous ideas to fight capitalism, without necessarily adopting outside ideas, since the continent knew and practiced the alternatives before colonialism.

The Chinese Communist Party, the One Belt One Road Initiative is really just taking the model of the British East India company of predatory capitalism and just putting it in reverse. --- They're looking for elite capture, and they do that through a predatory form of capitalism that quite frankly the British East India company and the British perfected in the height of colonialism. President Trump is anti-colonialism. He wants nations of the earth to be able to work with each other in a basis that's based on reciprocal interest and this is why he's a Nationalist.

CAPITALISM REQUIRES RACISM AND INEQUALITY According to Dr Ruth Wilson Gilmore, capitalism requires inequality to function, and racism enshrines that inequality. Or, as the great Pan-Africanist Malcolm X put it, ‘You can’t have capitalism without racism.’ In this clip from a recent talk, Gilmore, a scholar at The Graduate Center, who has been studying the relationship between racism, capitalism, and the US prison system for over 30 years, explained that capitalism needs to keep people divided into categories to continue exploiting them. If nothing separates us, one can imagine the dangers a united working class might pose to the capitalist system. In addition to dividing modern workers, capitalists needed to deploy racism to develop the initial capital used to create their now global system. Thus came chattel slavery in the Americas, g*nocide across multiple continents, and colonial theft around the world. In the words of assassinated Burkina Faso President Thomas Sankara (1949-87), ‘It is our blood that nourished the rise of capitalism, that made possible our present condition of dependence and consolidated our underdevelopment. But we cannot hide the truth any more; it cannot be ignored. The figures cannot be simply haggled away. For every Black man who came to the plantations, five died or were crippled.’

Let Them Eat Strawberries: A Lesson on Capitalism This video from Nathan Emery was likely served into my algo as rage bait, but it prompted a valuable lesson on capitalism for people who are frustrated with "the system" and seeking a solution. Capitalism is always the closest thing to blame and when it's done over light piano music from a friendly-toned voice and likely a well-meaning family man. You could almost think he's right. The real culprit is bloated, inefficient bureaucracy, not capitalism. Certainly capitalism is not without flaw, but it is the single most effective system for improving quality of life for the most people, driving innovation and allocating resources efficiently. The competition and incentive structure is why the world is a prosperous as it is. This simplistic breakdown explains capitalism through strawberries and why the education system has failed so many people. This video could be hours long, but for brevity hopefully this gives a generalized overview that drives less people to communism and more people to embrace how great capitalism actually is.

Capitalism is a "decoding" and "deterritorializing" machine that erodes identities and boundaries. In "traditional" Russia, it is fostering a proliferation of personal freedoms in lifestyle, consumption, and values -- at the expense of cultural cohesion. Dugin is right to push multipolarity (civilizational sovereignty for Russia against Western liberal universalism), with an authoritarian form of capitalism that avoids the excesses of Western progressivism. But capitalism is an autonomous, self-reinforcing, and expanding system; once it is allowed to operate, its logic will override traditional customs, regardless of the wishes of the state. Soviet Russia and Maoist China tried to follow a path to modernity without capitalism. But both were eventually compelled to shift from autarkic, ideologically rigid economies (Soviet central planning or Maoist collectivism) in favor of independent markets, where consumer items, entertainment, and personal decisions become increasingly available, though the state controls political dissent. The proliferation of choice we have witnessed in the West since the 17th century, in all aspects of life, no just consumer choice, but choice in marriage, careers, religious and philosophical beliefs, has now spread throughout the world via capitalism. Rising divorce rates, delayed marriages, lower birth rates, dating apps, limbic consumerism (addictive social media and gaming) prevail everywhere. Russian Orthodox collectivism or Chinese Confucian harmony can't do much to stop this. The good thing is that these two nations may be avoiding the dysgenic progressive capitalist path of the West, instituting their own version of authoritarian capitalism, which, in the case of China, is leading to the most dynamic nation on earth.
