MGIW Sovereignty napping in his stall on the Del Mar backside Wednesday morning. It was announced this morning that he would be scratched from Saturday’s GI Longines Breeders' Cup Classic, a race he was made the 6-5 favorite for, after spiking a fever. He is currently being treated with antibiotics. “He seems to be doing well this morning, his temp is one tick above normal and he looks bright and pretty good. But he's definitely out of the Breeders' Cup,” said trainer Bill Mott. “There's nothing I would have changed, there's nothing you can do about it. When it comes to something like this, it's just bad luck.” Mott said that the plan was always for Sovereignty to be laid up in Kentucky after the Classic pending a decision on his future. Sovereignty is set to fly to Kentucky early next week. Read more:

A quick check-in on the horses and where everyone stands right now: After running in the G1 Hopeful, Curtain Call unfortunately cut his leg. The good news is he’s healing well and is finally back to light workouts on the grass at Palm Meadows. It’s been a patient road back, but he’s moving in the right direction. Sandman is currently resting in Ocala while the team evaluates next steps and maps out the best plan moving forward. Ewing is also resting in Ocala alongside Sandman, with the goal of returning to action when we get back to Saratoga. Silent Tactic is running for Team Casse in the Arkansas Derby on March 28th & Reagan’s Honor will be running in the Blue Grass Stakes on April 4th to hopefully stamp their ticket to the Kentucky Derby. I will be attending both to cheer on the boys 👏🏼 Flightless is still training and will hopefully make her debut this summer. Horse racing is a marathon, not a sprint. The priority is always getting them healthy, happy, and ready when the time is right. Appreciate everyone who keeps checking in and supporting these horses along the journey. 🤝 West Point Tbred Mark Casse
