People switched parties, the parties didn’t switch. People who didn’t agree with civil rights became democrats & people who did became republicans. Nixon was a big influence to this as he used logic, reason, & their own bibles against them. Made the democrats big mad.

The south became more conservative with their rights & values; & wanted less government in their lives. They saw the path the Democratic Party was headed.
