The Sameer Project Bakery has officially opened in North Gaza, providing fresh bread daily to families in need amidst extremely difficult conditions - hunger, malnutrition, starvation. Support: Each day, the bakery produces around 3,000 loaves of bread, forming approximately 300 bundles for distribution, reaching households who rely on this... essential staple for survival. The overall daily cost averaging approximately $750. Behind each bundle is a carefully managed production process that allows us to keep bread accessible and consistent for displaced families. Daily production requires 9 bags of flour (25 kg each), along with 40 liters of sunflower oil, yeast, sugar, salt, and packaging materials. Operational costs also include rent, worker wages, and electricity. By setting up our own oven inside Jabalia Camp, we were able to bake fresh bread on-site and distribute it immediately to families in need. Unlike packaged food, this provided residents with warm, freshly made bread, which many had not eaten in months. Yesterday (10.02.2025), we baked and distributed 2,300 fresh loaves of sajj bread in Jabalia Camp. The destruction of bakeries, severe shortages of flour and fuel, and the ongoing blockade have made it almost impossible for families to access fresh bread. Starting today, we also opened another oven specialized in more nutritious and dense bread. We will share those results with you tomorrow. This camp gets minimal support and none of the families had anything to keep them warm for winter. Our The Sameer Project team got to work after taking the sizes of all the children at the camp, organizating a distribution of warm winter jackets, ensuring there was one for each child in need. We provided 103 jackets, each one heavy, water proof and lined, to keep them warm during the winter storms. Each one was approximately $23 and cost a total 2,290 after 9% commission. In total, we made 600 loaves of bread and fried 2,080 pieces of falafel, which were distributed to 200 families sheltering in the school. Meanwhile, 35 lucky students received freshly prepared falafel sandwiches in their classroom, giving them a nourishing start to their day.
