In the opening scene, Rambo visits a war buddy’s home hoping for reunion, but the man’s wife tells him he died from a war-related illness. The quiet loss deepens Rambo’s loneliness, setting the tone for a story about forgotten soldiers and the invisible scars of war.

The movie struck a chord with people at the time. Nam vets were treated very poorly, the hippies called them names. Then the whole Agent Orange and the VA denying the claims. It was terrible. It's why I tell vets today when they get thanked for their service be grateful some veterans never got that.

Vets of those days would be looking at the currents ones, wishing they were so appreciated

The only time in the film he seemed genuinely happy was when he thought he was going to see his veteran mate

This was a shockingly good movie. Terrible what they did to the sequel.

There is something with death that makes reality set in. Suddenly, you realize you should have been there more for your friends and family. The shock on his face says it all

Whatever happened in the sequels, First Blood is an amazing movie. Stallone's monologue at the end gets me every time.

1982?? A solid classic. Premium storytelling

Woman needed a lot of proof to accept that he wasn’t there for the wrong reasons

Ironically agent orange is related to glyphosate and what hurting everyone now

I know Stallone has made a lot of films over his long career, some of which were forgettable misfires, some of which where competent actioners, and then every couple of years he did one like this. It takes the right project, the right role, the right script and a director & crew that know what they're doing. Like the Rocky franchise, which had an excellent start with the first two films, the Rambo franchise launched with First Blood, and it was a very tight, well crafted film. People do make fun of how some of the sequels to Rocky and Rambo went over-the-top into cartoonish excess, and right so. It's hard to maintain that quality start, and the easy way out gets taken to just blow it all up bigger and badder. Awhile back I watched First Blood and the sequel back to back and it's jarring, the difference in tone and realism, from a real thrilling story to what was essentially a comic book come to life.

The only moment when Rambo is seen happy and smiling.

The rambo franchise belongs to the Hall of Fame

I wonder who they'll get to play Delmar Barry in the Rambo origin film being made by the same guy who made Sisu.

Any stalonne movie is a goal for me always filled with action

Was this his first movie??

@cee_fourr No. Sylvester Stallone’s first film appearance was in 1970 in The Party at Kitty and Stud’s (later re-released as The Italian Stallion), marking his screen debut.

If Delmar lived no corrupted sheriff department would of been busted, Vietnam POWs wouldn’t have been rescued, Afghans wouldn’t be free from Russians and some villages in miramar would still be occupied

A nation that sends young men to war has a moral obligation to care for them when they return. If it doesn’t, the damage doesn’t disappear , it erupts. It’s less an action movie lesson, and more a warning about responsibility, empathy, and pride.

Gr8 movie Hits home 🎶Ooh, war Has shattered many a-young man's dreams Made him disabled, bitter and mean And life is much too short and precious 2 spend fighting wars each day War can't give life🎶 #letmusicdothetalking Edwin - WAR via @YouTube

My dad also suffered from Agent Orange poisoning. Had first heart attack in his 20s. Plagued with illness his entire life. He actually used the stuff as an engineer.

Watched my Dad go through hell for years after 3 tours in Vietnam. This movie connected with him. There were a lot of guys who ended up moving into the woods in the Pac NW after the war. My Dad would disappear up there in the mountains for 3 months every year. RIP Dad

So sorry to hear about your late dad. The Lord rest his soul. I understand the experience is so painful

Literally watched this last night. I watch it twice each year. Such an excellent movie. And incredibly sad how we treat our vets.

The death broke him totally 💔

Movies like this aren't made anymore . I can remember seeing this movie back then . Sylvester Stallone is still one of my favorite actors

The acting here was perfect

Still remember as a child watching this movie hundreds of times it was greatly done. The first two was absolutely the best.

This is a solid 8/10 classic

I love how the mountains of BC are supposed to be like Mississippi or something.

I never did understand Teasle's line "Wearin' that patch on that jacket, lookin', like you do, you're asking for trouble here friend"-- what the hell was so wrong about Rambo wearing a US flag patch on his jacket?? Why did that brand him a troublemaker?

Personal story. My dad was in nam. And some of his friends were. They were talking about it one day. His friend drove machinery. That dug holes and just pushed bodies in and covered them. American or vietnamese. Didnt matter. This is why vets deserve better.

One of my favourite movie, Rambo is not a drifter, just a courageous warrior who fought tooth and nail in Nam. He’s the symbol of all the patriots who fought and died for their Homeland. It’s not only a movie, it’s the history of a good and brave man. Thank you Mr Stallone!

Haha… I’m sure a lot didn’t know his name was Rambo actually in the days

What a film

Watched all three Rambos yesterday. Interesting to not that the final Rambo film was dedicated to the gallant people of Afghanistan.

This is one of the few times, if not only time, Rambo is seen talking like a "normal" person and not in kill mode.
