With The Angry Birds Movie (2016) trending recently I’m surprised nobody hasn’t mentioned this scene yet and how quite emotional and beautifully executed it is that it completely works and makes you feel for the characters, this entire movie solos the entirety of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026) and if anything I felt more emotional with this scene more than Peach reuniting with Rosalina which really says a lot about that movie and how painfully mediocre and stressful Galaxy Movie was and the best part this movie is actually takes the time to breathe and doesn’t overuse references or action scenes every few minutes to make it enjoyable and it also doesn’t have deep storytelling either and yet it still manages to be enjoyable.

Philip Seymour Hoffman's tears in this scene were genuine. He later admitted he wasn't prepared for how emotional Tom Cruise became, and knowing Cruise had experienced something similar with his own father made the moment land that much harder. The only film where I truly admired Tom Cruise. He was brilliant, outstanding. Magnolia is a masterpiece.
