The scriptures teach us to “say nothing but repentance unto this generation; keep my commandments, and assist to bring forth my work” (Doctrine & Covenants 6:9). Over the course of the week, I will share some thoughts on the gift of repentance. I look forward to learning together with you.

We are living in the miracle of the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a marvelous time. I was grateful to share some counsel about the amazing days we are in with my grandson’s graduating seminary class a few days ago. May we remember the words of the Savior: “Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not” (Doctrine and Covenants 6:36).

Health update. After consulting with doctors and my team, I have decided to have right hip surgery early next week out in Colorado. It’s an unfortunate situation with so many great events left on the calendar but this is a preventative measure. I’m already itching to start rehab, get back to practicing and I look forward to returning to the course sometime around late summer/early fall. I would like to thank my family, friends, sponsors and partners for their continued support of me. I will share positive news on my rehab as I progress and I look forward to seeing everyone at the course again soon!

Here’s a word you don’t hear much these days… “REPENT.” It sounds harsh to modern ears. It makes people uncomfortable. But it is one of the most important words in the entire Bible — and honestly, one of the most loving things God ever said to us. The word literally means to “Turn Around.” Not just feel bad. Not just say sorry. But to make a complete U-turn — to change the direction of your life. Here’s where a lot of us get tripped up. We confuse remorse with repentance. And they are not the same thing. Remorse says “I feel bad about what I did.” Repentance says “I am changing what I do.” Judas felt remorse. Peter repented. One led to despair — the other led to restoration. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 7:10 — “Godly sorrow leads to repentance that brings salvation and leaves no regret — but worldly sorrow brings death.” In other words — it’s not enough to feel guilty. God wants to do something far deeper than make you feel bad. He wants to transform you from the inside out. What’s the difference between remorse and true repentance? And the reason was this, I was actually not converted out of homosexuality. I was converted out of unbelief, but because I was converted, the Lord showed me how He changes the affections of His people. So those are two separate things, but they go together because God changes affections. The Lord Jesus Christ pays for the sins of His people on the cross, but He also shows you how to break the chains of bondage, and that is the one piece that the evangelical church doesn't talk about enough, doesn't teach enough, and that is called the doctrine of sanctification."

My final thoughts of the weekend - I will be out on overpasses in squamish and west van, come meet me and snap a picture with me - There will be a lot of angry anti PPC users trying to bait you into pointless arguments. Just turn the other cheek #WhatJesusDid - My condolences the families of the victims of last night's horrific event. Nothing i say will bring your loved ones back, but know that the rest of the nation grieves with you.
