How much do you want to bet that Republicans will still vote against it… They don’t really want solutions. They want Biden to be blamed for their lack of helping with solutions. WH Statement: “From his first day in office, President Biden has called on Congress to fix our broken immigration system. That’s why he introduced a comprehensive immigration reform plan on day 1. And that’s why, earlier this year, his Administration reached a bipartisan agreement on the toughest and fairest set of reforms in decades. This bipartisan border legislation would deliver the significant policy changes, resources, and personnel needed to secure our border and make our country safer. It would add thousands of additional Border Patrol Agents and Customs and Border Protection personnel; it would invest in technology to catch fentanyl and go after drug traffickers; add asylum officers and immigration judges to improve the adjudication of asylum cases so they are resolved in a few months and not years; establish a temporary emergency authority to shut down the border when the system is overwhelmed; and expand access to lawful immigration pathways while expediting access to work authorization for those eligible. To those like this guy, shouting "Close the border" I would love to hear him explain how Biden "opened the border"? What exactly is Biden doing differently than Trump in regards to border security? Let's look at the FACTS: - Biden's border policies are not much different than Trumps. One thing he did do is try and stop the separation of children from parents or sending unaccompanied children who enter the US back into Mexico alone. - The 2023 government funding package that Biden signed into law provided Border Patrol with $7.15 billion, which was a 17% increase from the year prior. The funding included: - $65 million for 300 new Border Patrol agents - $60 million for 125 new personnel points of entry - $230 million for new technologies - Biden is using strategic fencing combined with more border security and technology to try and limit those coming in. Trump's idea for a wall from sea-to-sea would take a decade+ to build, require seizing tens of thousands of acres of private land, and not even work well. - Before leaving office, Trump tightened sanctions on Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, hurting their economies and forcing people to flee north towards the US. He also cut down on most legal forms of entry meaning that even more people wanted to come here illegally. If you want solutions, at least be honest about the problems and work together to correct them.
