Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Chief Sheldon Sunshine who initiated the First Nations lawsuit against Alberta separatist groups, the Alberta government and Canada (and won) gave an update in Maskwacis today. “Alberta cannot do this (separation referendum) unilaterally. Doing so would be a breach of treaty.” He says what the Alberta government is doing is enabling and allowing the separatists. “We also named Canada (in the lawsuit), for doing nothing.” Even though Canada is the Treaty partner with First Nations, it has done nothing so far.

We have 200 trillion cubic feet of gas: proven reserves. That is essentially inexhaustible…. We are the largest exporter to the United States. We give them more of our product than Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Iraq combined.” This is precisely why an independent Alberta would be so successful, and why the anti-Alberta zealots in Ottawa hate us so very much.
