The Seventh Seal (1957)

There's an error in translation. I think who ever watched that part, didn't really catch the difference between the Swedish words "beredd" and "rädd", for a non native Swedish speaking it can sound quite similar, especially if spoken fast, but in the context translation doesn't make sense. Death asks "Are you ready?" (Är du beredd?) and the knight answers "Min kropp är beredd, men det är inte jag", which should be translated to "My body is ready, but I am not". Translating to "My flesh is afraid, but I am not", doesn't make any sense in this context, or any context for that matter.

The guy is so lucky that someone left a chess board on the beach and none of pieces were taken away by seagulls.

It was an ok movie, the scenes were shot beautifully but the characters were not very complex. I remember them drinking milk and eating strawberries.

Should have challenged him to a fiddle competition... His fiddle game is weak from what I heard, couldn't even beat some hillbilly down in Georgia.

This was very interesting. Black and White is a great medium.

I still think about the scene where theres the one guy up a tree and Death just strolls up with a saw and starts cutting the tree down, and when the guy in it notices he just looks down and basically goes "aw, come on, now?" And the stupid grin on Death's face, very charming

He looks so young, he’s hard to recognize.

I had a strange mutli-language class once in college where we had to read The Seventh Seal - or at least part of it - in Swedish. Still have the dictionaries (50+ years later...) for Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian.

They couldn’t make this film today because there’s no trans or people with colour in the film.

The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman is one of my favorite motion pictures. I've also always been a fan of Max von Sydow.

It starts cool like this, then it shifts to some traveling actors and peasants... The story starts to meander and it gets pointless and boring really fast... 😐
