It is a turning point in the Middle East. It is the end of proxy war between Israel and the Islamic Republic. It should be a tipping point for democratic countries to create a coalition to support the people of Iran who want to end Islamic Republic.

Videos of some of Tehran’s busiest markets paint a dire picture of Iran’s retail economy. CBS News has spoken with merchants and traders inside the country for a glimpse of the severe pressure facing ordinary Iranians. But even after months of war, more U.S. sanctions and a naval blockade that’s depriving the Islamic Republic of an economic lifeline, its leaders have shown little sign they're ready to ease the pressure Iranians are under by offering concessions to the U.S. Kamal Afzali reports.

An Iranian army service member has called on President Trump for direct military intervention, saying the Iranian military would support overthrowing the Islamic Republic. “Mr. President of the United States, we in the military, along with the Iranian people, are waiting for you to help save us and free us from this oppressive regime so we can build a free and strong Iran. We want to Make Iran Great Again (MIGA).” The regime’s brutality and inhumanity, seen in the #IranMassacre, has pushed many Iranians to see foreign intervention as the only remaining way to remove the Islamic Republic.

Why did protests that begin in #Iran's bazaars over the collapse of the Rial so quickly turn into an uprising calling for an end to the Islamic Republic itself? While millions of Iranians struggle to afford food, healthcare, and other basic needs, the Islamic Republic has poured billions into funding its military and religious projects. Iranians sent a clear message when they took the streets: They have had enough of a system that prioritizes its power and ideology over the dignity and freedom of their people. Narrated by Nazanin Boniadi
