Today #SKALE developers announced an Improvement Proposal, named the Levitation Protocol, a fully-decentralized, ZK scaling solution, enabling existing ZK solutions to connect seamlessly into SKALE's App-chain Architecture, with rollup connectivity to the #Ethereum Mainnet.

In addition to the Levitation Protocol, the proposal calls for a further ecosystem upgrade. The creation of a "Layer 1 Megachain" called SKALE G (G for Ganymede, the largest moon in the solar system) fortified by ZK Rollups, with L2 ZK hooks back to Ethereum.

The proposal also calls for enabling App-Chains within the SKALE ecosystem to leverage both fast, gas-free transactions on SKALE or opt to use L2 ZK solutions in a configurable manner.

The Levitation Protocol is different from other, centralized ZK solutions because its utilizing a decentralized sequencer as a set of smart contracts deployed to a #SKALE Chain. The Levitation Protocol offers decentralization, interoperability, modularity and common security.

So I mapped out in detail how it works (afaict) under the hood. tl;dr we can use ZKP's (the scaling kind, not the privacy kind) to create an end game scaling solution for #Bitcoin. For now, BitVM enables trust minimized version of ZK Rollups (which is still really dang good). True, fully trustless roll-ups would require a soft-fork.
