is this the next thing after clipping? what’s the marketing tactic called on this platform? tiktok released a $NFLX competitor and they’re using ai slop to push the app this is literally INSANE, we’re living in a sci-fi age it’s no secret a lot of people prefer clips over full movies so tiktok created a platform for short dramas, basically like tiktok but just for movie clips but that’s not even the wild part most of the clips i saw isn’t from real movies, it’s ai-generated movie series, fuck creators are making these ai slop series like “fruit dramas,” and it somehow has a massive audience and tiktok is using its distribution moat to push the app so creators are making brainrot series and cross-posting on tiktok and the new app read this again: creators generating ai slop dramas, then clipping them and posting on their new app, like a clip of a clip this reminds me of the sora app that openai killed, but this might have a better future btw, 3 days ago, netflix said on their earnings call they’re about to release a tiktok-like vertical video feed for clips so yeah, this is probably the future before you even process what “clipping” is, people already invented clipping for clipping content

The reason: AI as a tool is a much smaller market; AI as a replacement for human-jobs is where the giant market story comes from. "The best-case scenario for AI, that $10 to $15 trillion market, will happen if ONLY it replaces people. If AI is a tool, it’s going to be a much smaller market than if AI replaces people. Look at the hysterical anti-AI comments in this thread from people who have never animated a day in their life. They claim AI "undercuts artists" and "steals from real animators." As a real animator who has been animating for 20 years, AI is simply the equivalent of getting a budget and a studio. Especially as one who has been blacklisted from the industry, AI is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. "Independent animators are the only artists who are expected to do the jobs of hundreds of people." Did Disney, Bakshi, or Judge stop being artists/animators because they got a studio, and didn't animate every single frame of their films by themselves? The answer from these commenters would be "ofcourse not." So why is it any different when a head animator uses AI to do all the laborious bitchwork instead of poorly paid Koreans? If a director ceases to be an artist because they use AI, then that means a director ceases to be an artist because they use a studio, and only the studio of poorly paid Koreans doing tedious repetitive bitchwork would be considered the Real Artists. Obviously, this is absurd logic. I still have seen no one refute this, and I would like to see some of the people in this thread try.

With 30-year-old codebases forming the foundation of its most popular tools, Adobe faces a significant challenge: its software has back pain. But it's not just a technical problem -- it's also a philosophical one, akin to the ship of Theseus. Can Adobe modernize and refactor its code bases without sacrificing the essence that made these tools indispensable to creators? Can they innovate without alienating their long-time users who've grown accustomed to the 'Adobe way' of doing things? An Unexpected Solution? Went to a new kind of movie today. One that cost $400,000 in AI compute to make. It was the San Francisco premiere. If you hadn’t told me it was largely done with AI I wouldn’t have known. The takeaway after listening to Higgsfield AI 🧩’s CTO introduce it is that a competent movie can now be made for half a million dollars. Where they used to cost $100 million or more. Here is the first few minutes of “Hell Grind” and that intro from Yerzat Dulat. We are far from seeing the ultimate use of AI in movies. As a touch point of where AI for creative people is this seems like an important time marker and one I will look back on frequently for years.

Peter Jackson talks about AI in Hollywood. Calls it “a tool” like stop-motion or CGI before and what ultimately matters is “imagination, originality” of whoever uses the tool: “I think AI — used in the right way — is a tool like any other tool. [The original] King Kong…was stop-motion and done by a person moving a rubber creature. Why shouldn't somebody on a computer using AI software be able to create their own imagery? They should. It's a tool. It's no different from many other tools that have existed over the years. But the other side of it is that it's always going to come down to the imagination and originality of the person feeding the instructions into the AI program. It's not that you're going to type in an instruction and it's going to generate your shot, and that's that. The question is: is it actually interesting? Is it funny? Is it imaginative? And are you going to stitch it together to make a narrative, a story? Some people will make really great films that way. Some people will do exactly the same process and their film will be crap, just like in the normal film industry. Whether it's AI or anything else, it comes down to whether the person behind it — or the people behind it — have originality, imagination, and an ability to entertain people.”
