I am familiar. Had one storm a long while back that resulted in my having to look out the side window while crawling along at about 10mph to see if I was still on the I-10 leaving Phoenix. They ended up closing all the bridges over the Colorado and we made it over the last one right before they shut it down. Took 12 hours from 9 pm to 9 am to go from Phoenix to La Mirada, which would usually take us 5 hours. We did also have to stop and assist some girls who had rolled their squareback VW into the median (driver fell asleep). It was about 4 am. Good times.
