HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL to the point where it’s a slur to me

I have ALWAYS rejected being called an "African American" because: 1. I'm not an African living in America. 2. I'm not an American having an African experience. 3. We don't call white folks European Americans. #blackAmerican

Everything is disrespectful to a self hating black, the ships that brought your ancestors to America is still there for evidence. Black America is more disrespectful than African America, you only don’t like the fact your ancestors is from Africa.
You will not be called ‘black’ or negro in Africa.

The term african american was coined by political activists, for political reasons. To me, Africans in the US are African Americans. Black Americans are just Americans who are black.

I agree. When I really thought about it I realized how fucked it was that we call black Americans, African Americans when we don’t call white Americans whose ancestors arrived here 6 generations ago Irish Americans or whatnot. African American is only a term that is appropriate for a first generation African immigrant who has become a citizen.

AMER'ICAN, noun A native of America; originally applied to the aboriginals, or copper-colored races, found here by the Europeans; but now applied to the descendants of Europeans born in America. Copper-Tone BROWN 🤎 Skin Native American Indians 🌎

Giving a nod to being of African descent is okay by me.

Like a few comments say, African-American should be considered a slur to our people
