The term “console exclusive” was introduced by Microsoft and for the last decade widely accepted. Xbox also used it for all of their showcases, it's self-explanatory. But when Xbox went full third-party and Phantom Blade Zero & Co skipped Xbox, certain people dismissed the term.

Jez Corden explains disc-to-digital (Project Positron) conversion platform You literally put the disc into the console, and it gives you a digital license for the game permanently for your Microsoft account. If you give the disc away or sell it; if it gets connected to another Microsoft account, you lose access to that digital license. You don't need the disc to keep verifying it. It's whoever last used the disc who gets the license. In 2013 (Xbox One launch) there was a rumor that retailers were going to unlock the disc, but that wasn't actually true, but it was badly communicated, and Xbox leaders misunderstood how the feature was going to work. It became a huge cluster that they had to scrap. You get the full game, you get the Xbox Cloud version, you get the Xbox Play Anywhere version, and you get the license as if you purchased it digitally. It is diabolical! I called it last year. It was Phil Spencer's idea for the Game Pass pivot. He was the one who decided to bring Forza, Gears of War, and Halo over to PlayStation 5. He was the one who said there was no way to compete with PlayStation, and now the number of exclusives will get people to not buy a PS5 and suddenly buy an Xbox. Sarah Bond didn't have the position long, and all of a sudden, she is to blame for the Culture Change for XBOX? I saw it coming the moment she was selected as the new President of XBOX. They were going to throw the sista under the bus. Now Phil Spencer can retire unscathed by this backlash, while every article points the finger at Sarah Bond for the company's failure. XBOX has been failing since the XBOX 1. They need to take that bullshit somewhere else, because they aren't fooling me.

The #Xbox Showcase was deceptive now we know games like Senua were announced despite the studios potential planned closure. 2. Xbox is now using showcases and gamer hype not to sell games, but drum up investor interest for studios they want to shutter or spin off. Go to point 7 on why he is strongly against this, even if Ninja Theory agreed. 3. Ninja Theory was indirectly celebrating their own demise. Xbox being a "used car salesman talking about all the great features of this thing. And in this situation the used car is a bunch of people." 4. Calls into question all the other decisions around Ninja Theory and Project Mara. 5. "Damages the credibility of any time Microsoft talks about selling games in future." 6. "It makes Xbox leadership seem completely incomprehensible from the outside. Probably because internally they don't have a coherency between their decisions." 7. "Treating the studio like a meat market for the studio is insane."
