The biggest source of misinformation is the current government itself. They lie constantly about virtually everything. From illegals to Israel, all lies and untruths. They are causing division in this country and they are doing it on purpose. Luckily, as an OAP I'll be dead soon.

A problem is that social media is full of foreign bots etc promoting hatred and division so to undermine the UK and partners. That isn't free speech.

I recently asked Minister Wong to explain why the Government attempted to censor the social media posts of democratically elected members of Parliament, specifically Craig Kelly and George Christensen. The Ministers response was both unsatisfactory and predictable. To make matters worse the Government has also recently announced that it will attempt to expand upon the censorship of all Australians. They have released the draft of a proposed bill aimed at combatting 'disinformation and misinformation'. This bill is a fatal blow for free speech and will impose MASSIVE fines for social media companies who allow content on their platforms that is deemed to be dis/mis information. Who decides what is dis/mis information? The Government and the people who control what they do and say behind the curtain do. The same types of people who told you that Covid-19 mRNA vaccines were safe and effective and that Covid was deadly when it was in fact mild for almost 100 percent of healthy people. This bill is dangerous. Free political speech is the bedrock of our society and I will fight to preserve this right. The Government should not be controlling speech. If we as a society are worried about dis/mis information then the best disinfectant is freedom of speech not more Government censorship.

The Government is spreading misinformation about misinformation in order to justify mass censorship on social media. The argument that mis- and disinformation is to blame for political division and unrest in society has been repeated so often that it has acquired the status of fact. Earlier this year, the Government released a green paper called Watch This Space proposing that social media platforms should be legally obliged to promote "trustworthy" news sources to the top of users' feeds. This is primarily public broadcasters like the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4. In other words, the Government wants to control the information you see. These proposals have been met with fierce opposition from the Trump administration and the senior US Congressman Jim Jordan, who chairs the House Judiciary Committee. If this did not sound dystopian enough already, FSU Policy and Research Director David Rose has written a report exposing how the Government has used dubious evidence to justify its call for mass censorship, whilst ignoring strong evidence which contradicts its claims. It is much easier to blame the likes of Elon Musk for the political division in society. Michelle O'Neill, the Sinn Féin First Minister of Northern Ireland, held Elon Musk responsible for the riots in Belfast that followed the video of a Sudanese migrant allegedly attempting to murder a local man by repeatedly knifing him. Keir Starmer also claimed there were people "trying to interfere in our democracy and seeking to stir up division on our streets". It seems that our political leaders fail to consider that perhaps the public are just witnessing events unfolding around them, rather than being maliciously fed misinformation? It's All Much Worse Than I Thought The corporate media are all-in on government censorship Over the last three years, we have come to learn of the role that our own government officials have played in demanding censorship by social media platforms. Some of this censorship was overt, particularly as it related to COVID. However, some of it was also done in secrecy, as we discovered in the Twitter Files. Many of us thought that once we had uncovered the censorship, governments would be sufficiently embarrassed to stop doing it. And to some extent, that has been the case. But now, governments around the world are stepping up their efforts to demand more censorship. Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation quietly announced it had resumed its outreach to social media companies. Scotland’s Police could even investigate comedians under a new hate speech law if someone complains about a joke. Major media outlets are currently working with government-funded censorship activists at the University of Washington and Stanford Internet Observatory to demand greater censorship in the name of “saving Democracy.” Without a doubt, those of us who have uncovered censorship have had an impact. On “60 Minutes” last Sunday, the government-funded advocates of censorship at the University of Washington said they have stopped demanding censorship of social media platforms. Simply drawing awareness to who is demanding censorship and who is funding them has weakened their power. But governments, government-funded NGOs, and the news media have been relentless in their demands for a crackdown on speech they deem hateful and false. At the Supreme Court last week, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson expressed unironic concern that the First Amendment restricts the government’s ability to censor. And everyone from the New Yorker to the New York Times to NBC is suggesting that the only people who are worried about government censorship are Trump supporters, which is obviously false. The 60 Minutes segment was particularly shocking. Lesly Stahl never mentioned the mass censorship of accurate information about COVID’S origins, COVID vaccines, and lockdowns. She falsely suggested that shining a light on the censorship activists was tantamount to persecution. And she suggested that if the government didn’t do more to censor misinformation, Trump supporters would overthrow the government, which is a form of disinformation aimed at scaring people into giving up our first and most fundamental freedom. There are many reasons why they are doing this....

Our nation faces a turning point in history with the Misinformation & Disinformation Bill Will the lights of freedom be extinguished and our future is that of totalitarian nation where what you say will censored if it doesn‘t confirm the government’s narrative ? If the Misinformation & Disinformation Bill passes the Senate - freedom of speech dies in Australia And look at contrast between ourselves and the USA PRESIDENT TRUMP : "The fight for Free Speech is a matter of victory or death for America and for the survival of Western Civilization itself. As I know firsthand, social media giants already do a significant amount of censorship but Anthony Albanese will turbo charge the appalling censorship that already exists on most social media platforms through his Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation bill. This will further weaponise the labels of misinformation and disinformation against people like me who dare challenge the ideological agenda of the establishment. A healthy, functioning democracy requires freedom of speech, which means that ideas from across the ideological and political spectrum are discussed and debated with the hope that good arguments, guided by the light of truth, will win the day.

Albanese’s Misinformation and Disinformation (MAD) Bill establishes a Government run Ministry of Truth, with eSafety Commissar acting as a Censorship Czar. It will end Freedom of Speech in Australia. Don‘t sit back and watch this happen. Spread the message - bring a group a friends and join in the public rally protesting against this proposed Orwellian Misinformation - Disinformation. Our only hope of stopping the Bill is a huge public display of opposition. It’s up to you.

Lisa Nandy has quit X. Yes, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport has decided that, rather than challenge so-called misinformation and disinformation, she would rather vacate the stage. She has dubbed the platform a threat to democracy and free speech. Since when has Lisa Nandy ever been a champion of free speech and democracy? Does she care that more than 30 people a day are arrested for “offensive” social media posts? No. Did she care when Keir Starmer and Steve Reed tried to cancel a string of local elections this year? No. In fact, Nandy is the same Secretary of State who, only last week, announced plans in the House of Commons to force social media platforms to prioritise what the Government deems to be “trustworthy” news sources. What should concern us all is her close relationship with our next Prime Minister, Andy Burnham. Andy is keen to press ahead with what lhis and his ally Love Actually’s Hugh Grant’s planned assault on the free press. If Nandy remains in post, she will be the minister responsible for bringing Britain’s free press under effective state control.
