Chinese President Xi Jinping said at the opening ceremony of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on Wednesday that humankind is a community with a shared future. "China can only do well when the world is doing well. When China does well, the world will get even better," Xi said. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative. However, some Western media are hyping up the so-called “Chinese debt trap diplomacy”. Hussein Askary told GDToday that #China and the BRI are the solution to the financial crisis in many countries. In contrast, debt from Western institutions is often incurred to resolve trade and fiscal deficits, which means it is not used in anything productive but simply to pay old liabilities. That is the real debt trap.
