Israel is pressuring the Greek Orthodox Church out of its land in Jerusalem. It is also pressuring the Roman Catholic & Armenian churches. In December 2022, Israeli settlers seize land owned by Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem reported by the Greek City Times & The Athens Bureau. The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate issued a public statement against the actions. This happened previously in 2017 as well. However as of recently, Israel has imposed new taxes to pressure the Orthodox Christians out of the land there. This has been deemed a “coordinated attack” against Christians in the region from the Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Armenian churches. Israeli intolerance to Christians is mounting as warning letters were sent to multiple churches from the Israeli government threatening legal action if the Churches did not pay up.
