This had little to do with Clark being ready to contribute or not, but more about team control. Why now? Because Harris has to give something to keep the fans coming out once they deal Skubal.

I think he’s ready but it’s a little bit of an odd time to call him up with the deadline in a couple days and only a couple weeks until he can maintain rookie status.

I was surprised that they called him up. It was almost like they wanted to give the fan base something to look forward to as they trade Skubal. I just read recently that his velocity off the bat wasn’t very good yet. When I saw him in Spring Training this year he totally didn’t look ready. Hopefully some miracle has happened and he’ll be ready to hit in the Majors. I hope so for him and the fans. A lot of difference between the players from AAA to the Majors.

Now that he is up... and presuming he is at least decent... What is the wish list for trades? I would like to get a solid 3rd baseman with 2+ years left on his contract for Skubal. And I think we trade Torres and Mize for some actually decent bullpen arms. Quality over quantity.

I don't totally understand this. If they didn't call him up until August 14th they would save a year of service time.. So why would they call him up 2 weeks prior? 1) they know they're not going to play next year!! 2) they still think they can make a run this year

This depends on which injured list is used. Putting a player on the standard 10-day or 15-day injured list does not clear a 40-man roster spot, but transferring or placing that player on the 60-day injured list temporarily removes them from the 40-man roster, freeing up a spot

Bad move. If next season doesn’t happen, with Max Clark on 40 man roster, he won’t be able to play AAA games next year. I hope he proves me wrong but why now?
