The traffic changes on Dublin's quays are working. Faster buses, less traffic, footfall up. I think it's a huge win for the city. (You'll be amazed that a representative for car park owners doesn't agree!)

Less traffic is a complete lie. Diverting cars and chocking other roads causing even more traffic elsewhere isn’t a win and doesn’t fix the root of the problem.

What do you think the root of the problem is? For me, it's an over-reliance on cars to the detriment of public transport. Speeding up buses massively can only improve that.

I heard this interview, it was pure obvious the car park owner rep didn't have any real rebuttal for the footfall figures which you quoted, only anecdotal evidence. Imagine one less car park in a city centre where people could live and revitalise the area. GRMA Michael.

I'm all for getting cars out of the city, but I think this has resulted in worse congestion on the North Circular Rd and adjacent side roads. This was already one of the most polluted parts of the city, and includes a major hospital site. Not a win for all.

It's way better now. More of such changes should be done.

Yes, but they were regularly behind schedule/frequency as they were held up in traffic on the quays. Many high frequency buses don't run on a timetable now: it's about a frequency ("every six minutes") instead.
