@SoulProvocateur Damn! Technology is advancing government and corporations but not the people. That’s clear. Brave new world indeed.

@SoulProvocateur We had penpals in different countries in the 3rd and 4th grades. Wrote a letter and addressed the envelope. Getting a combination locker was prime freedom. Especially if u didnt havw to share.

I taught 3rd grade last year and my kids learned and masters this analog clock…. However, this year I moved up to 4th and half of my same babies from last year in my class… and they cannot tell me what time the analog clock on the wall says sometimes when I ask!!!! They literally lose the skills over time. I believe it’s bc of the digital world. It’s CRAZY.

@SoulProvocateur Years ago, my hubby was in class (clock on the wall) and a student said “What time it is?” Yeah. He was told to look at the clock. Why did the child try to yank his cell off him? It didn’t end well. 😂

@SoulProvocateur I get that children today aren’t learning the same things their parents did but… Why does a child these days need to learn any of those things? They can’t use a telegraph machine either. So what?

And now you know why Trump is dismantling the DoE. Combined with heavily 🌈 movement. We replaced useful skills like auto shop, cursive, and home ec. Now bigger focus on sports and entertainment and who your have sex with. It is the planned destruction of this country and too many are blind to it.

@SoulProvocateur The city school system has failed.

@SoulProvocateur Sad bc cursive was taught in 3 and 4th grade and clocks was taught early too .. This generation is just behind .. bc this stuff was taught in school also how to right a check from the bank ..So what’s being taught in school ..

@SoulProvocateur @MississippiTity She’s fine as hell. But to her point, I literally just experienced this with my 17 year old. I needed her to sign a document for school, and she printed her name. I explained that she needs to sign it in cursive and she was like they NEVER taught it to her, so I had to teach her.

@SoulProvocateur A teacher is not hired for babysitting she is a educator. So home schooling starts at 3 years old do you job and teach your babies how to learn so y'all don't have to be called in from you outside job to do your inside job a raise your own children and let the teaches teach

@SoulProvocateur Bruh , combination locks!?? Like they can’t open the lockers ????

@SoulProvocateur We didn't have combination locks built into the locker. We purchased our own. To learn, we basically just read the instructions. I still have it and remember the combination I purposely have an analog face on my smartwatch - simply to keep that skill in a digital world.

@SoulProvocateur Yeah I was substitute teaching at a high school and I was surprised that the students couldn't read cursive writing and there was a group of four girls who wanted to practice and asked me to write the alphabets for them so that they could practice; that made me smile

@SoulProvocateur There’s a lot of failed parents in these comments outing themselves. Talking about when are they going to need cursive or combination locks? Blame their parents…some of them are here

@SoulProvocateur Very true! It start at home! These parents be expecting these teachers/ school to create a miracle. I know high school kids who can’t even read! But all these parents care about is making sure they kids in the lastest fashions.

@SoulProvocateur Well we started teaching them several genders and pronouns during the early years. They had no time for all those actual life skills 🫣😳😳🤯

@SoulProvocateur What if the true reason behind the erasure of human interaction is phasing out of tasks that would be challenging for AI/robots/computers? It's clear they are replacing human workers with automation. This could help them achieve more of their goals more rapidly.

@SoulProvocateur Combination lock - you don’t need to know it until July need to know it not a life skill you need to know. Cursive - the only time I seen that a child needs to know how to read cursive is for old documents. Someone stated that they had land owed to them and was able to

@SoulProvocateur If the year was 1980 I can see this being a huge problem.

@SoulProvocateur I've taught adults who don't know any of those things, especially how to address an envelope

@SoulProvocateur Times have changed. The world is going forward. I harped on my kids about cursive I might have been asking them to work an 8 track. Sorry yesterday is gone. Can you do basic coding. Look forward to Sis. Look forward

@SoulProvocateur What is this accent?!?!? No shade, she's a cutie, as is her voice, and her message is heartfelt, but where on earth is that accent from?

@SoulProvocateur Well technically… if they don’t need it to accomplish their goals in life… was it really necessary for them to take the time to learn it ??? … I don’t know how to put a horse shoe on a horse 🐴 ??? … does that mean I won’t be able to make a million dollars & support my family

@SoulProvocateur 🗣And they can’t count money … coins or dollars. Something is very wrong with this. No matter what the system is trying to infiltrate… we are still going to rise. Thanks for your post and service🌷. 🕚⏳⚖️

@SoulProvocateur The youth is too dependent on the Internet.

@SoulProvocateur Our babies don’t have pen pals Our babies are wearing Apple Watches Our babies were doomed when schools start saying cursive was unnecessary and stopped teaching it. Our babies don’t use combination locks anymore cause school lockers don’t have them

@SoulProvocateur 🫣 well my lil cousins say they don’t teach cursive

@SoulProvocateur Cursive is one thing, but good penmanship matters when taking state exams that aren’t online. In NYC not every exam is online. If the kid has poor penmanship it effects their ratings.

@SoulProvocateur Her outfit is cute and respectable

@SoulProvocateur Teach THEM in SPANISH?

@SoulProvocateur I think we need to reconsider the relevance of what we teach - is it pertinent to the world our students inhabit? There are only so many hours in the day to teach a skill/concept. Maybe we reevaluate what’s most valuable to focus on. How important is cursive in a digital economy?

@SoulProvocateur They brought cursive back to Florida schools and clock reading is also in the curriculum. Well it was.

@SoulProvocateur I def learned cursive in school but I’ve always printed my “signature” or I’ll put initials . Nvr had an issue I don’t get big deal honestly. I also no longer know how to read cursive cuz nobody writes in cursive anymore but the elderly

@SoulProvocateur If you can’t read cursive how can you read the declaration of the United States. The Jews never forgot there ancient language despite being slaves and migrant across the globe do to ww2. And these kids can’t learn cursive. But tell the to rap or ass shake. They know that shit.

@SoulProvocateur They don’t learn cursive at all before High School. The educational system doesn’t put value on handwriting at all. We have to make sure our children are writing legibly.
