The Trump Administration is looking to expand airport security to private companies The goal is for faster modernization of AI-enhanced imaging for better threat detection and more accurate wait time predictions Private contractors would handle both staffing and greater control and management of screening equipment and technology Now this sounds like it could be awful, giving private companies control over our security at airports but it’s also to reduce the federal workforce The Trump administration has the goal of reducing federal workforce size, cutting costs where possible, and improving efficiency after the recent airports shutdowns So this way if Congress refuses to pass a budget, our airports would still function The only thing I would watch out for is costs. Once private companies take over typically they increase prices
