The Trump administration recently fired Alexis Goldstein from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau over an incident last year, when she confronted members of DOGE to prevent them from accessing sensitive agency information including personal information of U.S. residents. "I just asked them what their name was. They refused to... give me their name," says Goldstein, who was put on administrative leave for a year and then fired last week. The CFPB, created by Congress in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, was gutted by Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency. Most of the agency's lawsuits against financial firms have since been dropped under the Trump administration. "Essentially, no one is watching the biggest banks," says Goldstein, who is running for Congress in Maryland to "fight against fascism in America."show more

The Social Security Administration now says members of Elon Musk's DOGE team working at the agency last year accessed and shared sensitive data. In a court filing earlier this month, the Trump administration amended what it had previously disclosed, writing that one DOGE employee at SSA signed an agreement with an unnamed political advocacy group to analyze voter rolls to "find evidence of voter fraud and to overturn election results in certain states." In another instance, a DOGE member shared personally identifiable information of 1,000 people in an encrypted e-mail attachment, though the government says they aren't sure what specifically was shared or whether it was accessed. The SSA also said DOGE shared data on third-party cloud servers that were "outside SSA's security protocols," and the agency doesn't know what information was shared or if it still exists on the server. The latest disclosures seemed to confirm some key concerns first raised in a whistle-blower complaint last summer filed by Chuck Borges, the agency's chief data officer. Borges involuntarily resigned from government in August and filed a retaliation complaint late last year. For more, amna spoke to Borges and his lawyer, Debra Katz.

A thought just occurred to me. DataRepublican (small r) did an entire report last year that was lifted up by the Trump administration and members of Congress, all claiming to know how the far left is funded. A Tesla store in Salem, Ore. was shot up on Feb. 19. The same location was the target of an arson attack several weeks earlier. Antifa and the far-left have been calling for attacks on business interests connected to Elon Musk since his takeover of Twitter. I asked White House White House Press Office what steps the Trump Administration is taking to address the conflict of interest that is Elon Musk running Department of Government Efficiency as a "special government employee" while also owning companies that have billions of dollars in federal contracts: "The president was already asked and answered this question this week. And he said if Elon Musk comes across a conflict of interest with the contracts and the funding that DOGE is overseeing, that Elon will excuse himself from those contracts," she told me. JPMorgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo are a few of the bank owners of Zelle who got sued by the CFPB for allowing people who use Zelle to get scammed out of $870 million. Mr. Vought dropped the charges, and the people who got cheated, they get nothing. Capital One was sued by CFPB for cheating its customers out of $2 billion and once again, Trump and Vought said 'keep the money.'
