When Cam asked about diaspora superiority over Black Americans, Da’Vinchi acknowledged that the attitude exists and said he disagreed with it. That was one conversation. In a separate part of the interview, while discussing foreign Black actors getting American roles, Da’Vinchi questioned American work ethic, described Americans as babied, incompetent, and lazy, then contrasted himself with those Americans by pointing to his Haitian upbringing and saying that was where he learned work ethic and independence. Those are two different answers to two different discussions. That is exactly why people are talking about the Haitian-versus-American distinction. Da’Vinchi made that distinction himself. Nobody forced him to invoke his Haitian upbringing immediately after criticizing American work ethic. And his later “I disagree with that” comment about diaspora superiority was not him taking back or rejecting what he had already said about American laziness and incompetence. You merged two separate exchanges together, changed the meaning, and then spent several minutes insulting everybody else’s comprehension. Then you dragged in the school-to-prison pipeline and reduced it to parents handing children iPads and not reading to them. That is not what the school-to-prison pipeline means. The ACLU describes it as policies and practices that disproportionately push Black children out of schools and toward juvenile and criminal legal systems through under-resourced schools, exclusionary discipline, zero-tolerance policies, suspensions, expulsions, and police involvement. Turning a documented institutional problem into “y’all don’t read to your kids” is not analysis. It is blaming Black parents for something you clearly do not understand. Then there is slavery. Da’Vinchi said Caucasians enslaved Caucasians and Black people enslaved Black people, then argued that the way we view history is “cutting our legs off” from moving forward. So yes, people are criticizing him for flattening the specific history of racial chattel slavery into a broad “everybody enslaved everybody” argument. Indentured servitude is NOT the same as slavery. Social media did not invent that either. He said it. And if you are repeating that old claim that third-grade reading scores are used to predict how many prison beds will be needed, that claim has been repeatedly debunked. PolitiFact traced it for years and found no evidence that prisons use third-grade reading scores that way. Literacy absolutely matters, but low literacy is connected to a much larger set of social and educational disadvantages. It is not proof that Black parents are lazy, nor does an iPad explain the school-to-prison pipeline. The military, police, and politics rant at the end was just you throwing random shit at the wall. Being ethnically Black American and criticizing American institutions are not contradictions. So, after all that talk about literacy, comprehension, and critical thinking, you confused two separate answers, misstated the school-to-prison pipeline, repeated a debunked prison-bed myth, and wandered into an argument I haven't heard anybody make. All that yelling about comprehension and literacy just to misread the interview yourself is wild.
