This was a special episode. parents were asked to watch this with their children. It was to inform about child abusers. One of the 1st shows to address the subject. At this time there were a lot of missing children and their pictures were on milk boxes - long before amber alerts

Why doesn’t the guy realize the whole point was to show kids what bad grownups might do? He really thinks they were glamorizing it? What a choad.

Young people don’t know about very special episodes of 80s sitcoms

I saw that as a kid. It was framed as a warning. Mom watched it with me. Never go in a room with a stranger. Never accept food from a stranger. Never take photos with a stranger

What the fuck is the ominous music for? The episode was not mysterious it’s about a pedophile that gets caught. No secrete message. Pizza? It’s a stretch!

That episode was to teach kids about child molesters it was a really good episode they even have the actors talk about it after the show... back in the old days they would teach you things that helped you nowadays it's just made propagandize you you're really stupid

Back in the 80’s…there were many sitcoms that aired…“On a very special episode of..” Many of these shows did try to bring awareness to kids, of very real dangers out in the world. Ironically….many producers, directors and the actors…were themselves…. “Stranger Dangers”

Living during that time, there was a huge move to protect kids and educate parents in predators. Remeber, we didn't have Internet. This wasn't "shady", this was responsible. The child abductions had reached a fevered pitch during that time.

You took a really long time to say that TV shows and cartoons in the 80s tried to warn kids about pedos.

Lotta softies in this generation they were showing shows like that to bring awareness. Why would they be an outrage?

Pick yours battles dummy, this is a good thing, visual presentation to create awareness is very important. Just telling kids what to watch out for is not nearly as effective. Smh

It’s not a dog whistle. It was awareness for kids and parents, we need more shows like this.

No it wasn’t outrage because we wasn’t sissies in the 80s and shows always had a serious episode every once in awhile that actually brought awareness to things

Yeah back then shows use to have special informative episodes about racism, abuse, date rape, rape doesn’t mean they were actually promoting those things.

It was a episode on Pedophile and what to watch for. It was the only episode about it and before it came on they gave a warning and other information after the show.

This episode was to teach parents and kids to be more aware of these situations. You need to think about the time there was no social media. TV was the only way to communicate to a mass audience. Parents were blissfully unaware of danger and didn’t watch their kids like today.
