As we chronicled on the latest episode The Complete Hulk Hogan, Hulk and Andre took their program all around the WWF horn after Shea Stadium, with Hulk often taking quick, questionable falls after Andre fell on top of him during a bodyslam attempt. Here's a glimpse of what the match looked like at The Capital Center outside Washington DC in Sept. 1980, as covered by DC sports anchor George Michael. Listen as Michael is scoffed at by the other desk anchors for covering wrestling, and as Hogan is merely referred to as "The Peacock." Michael clearly has no idea Hulk had already slammed Andre at Shea. Michael went on to create the popular "George Michael Sports Machine" syndicated highlights show in 1984, and often found a place for wrestling clips amidst the serious sports, all the way through the Rock N' Wrestling boom. This may well be Michael's first time narrating a clip of Hogan in action, as Hogan is truly rag dolled by Andre.

No pressure Shane, but our program has been dropped and this will be the last match ever wrestled for Stanford. Maybe if you win this could be the shake up we need to get the university to change their mind! Shane Griffith entered NCAA's in 2021 as the 8 seed. Failing to win Pac 12's, it didn't seem likely that Shane Griffith would win a title at 165, and the Stanford Cardinal wrestling program would go out quietly before Saturday's NCAA finals. Griffith knocked off top seed Alex Marinelli en route to an NCAA title over Pitt's Jake Wentzel. Shortly after this win, and the viral moment that this win created with Shane wrestling in an all black singlet and putting on a "Save Stanford Wrestling" hoodie in the middle of a review, Stanford reversed course and reinstated their wrestling program. John Cena and CM Punk haven’t wrestled since February 25th, 2013. A match that was never billed as a finale to what I consider to be the greatest rivalry ever, but yet is the most perfect ending I could ever think of for their story. An epic that’ll live on forever and is not only the greatest TV match of all time, but in my opinion the second greatest match in the history of wrestling. Wrestling soulmates do the dance one final time, and it’s magic.

During my recent appearance om Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw we did the 4-Part series on The Life & Legacy of Jim Barnett and during Part 2, Gerald BRISCO 🤼‍♂️ & John Layfield and I discussed the amazing Australian World Championship Wrestling operation of Jim Barnett & Johnny Doyle.. I was watching some of their TV this morning. Here's a match from March 16th, 1968. One of Gerald BRISCO 🤼‍♂️ closest friends & best minds in the business Pat Patterson taking on Antonio Pugliesi. Look how great Patterson makes Pugliesi look in this match. Pat was a bumping machine in 1968! Also check out how enthusiastic the fans at ringside are in this studio wrestling show!
