Former U.S. officials - notably Lawrence Wilkerson, chief of staff to Colin Powell - have said Israeli officials initially urged the U.S. to focus on Iran rather than Iraq after 9/11. While Israel later supported the removal of Saddam Hussein once the Bush administration had already committed to Iraq, there is no evidence that Israel drove the U.S. decision to invade. 2) Netanyahu was not Prime Minister at the time.
