#acaciafire; Forward progress on the fire has been stopped and crews have a wet line around the fire. Firefighters and made a quick and aggressive attack on this fire with multiple engines, one of our handcrews, and coordinated water drops by our Firehawk helicopters. We currently have six fire engines with an Aerial Ladder Platform and water bowser attending a large fire off Caldwell Lane near Hitchin. Beds Fire and Rescue, Herts Police EEAST Ambulance Service, Environment AgencySE are supporting. Mobile command and welfare units are on the scene.

#mountainfire update; The fire is currently at 20,596 acres with 7% containment. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters. VCFD is in unified command with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners. Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Our thoughts are with all of members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts. Fire activity has decreased due to a decrease in winds over the area. A large animal evacuation center has been established at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara. A public information hotline has been established. Affected residents can call 805-465-6650 for assistance. Evacuation orders remain in place. Residents are encouraged to visit for the most current evacuation information. An evacuation center has been setup at Padre Serra Parrish at 5205 Upland Rd in Camarillo. The video is from inside of the Ventura County Air Unit Firehawks as they perform water drops over the fire yesterday.

Early this morning, CAL FIRE sent 15 fire engines, one Agency Representative, and one mechanic, totaling 53 personnel to Colorado to help support firefighting efforts on the Aspen Acres Fire burning in Custer and Pueblo Counties. These firefighters are expected to assist in Colorado for up to 14 days. This deployment also marks a first for CAL FIRE, as it is the first time we have sent firefighting resources to Colorado through the National Association of State Foresters State-to-State Partnership. We are proud to support our partners and communities beyond California when help is needed.

Firefighters have stopped forward progress, and the fire is currently estimated at 28 acres. The fire was initially reported as 1-2 acres in medium brush with a moderate rate of spread. VCFD is in unified command with @venturacityfire and @oxnardfiredepartment. Approximately 100 firefighters were engaged in this incident, including engines, water tenders, dozers, hand crews. Crews will be remaining on scene for the next few hours mopping up hotspots within the fire footprint. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. #VCFD #venturacountyfire #venturacityfire #oxnardfire

This evening, Metro Fire, Cosumnes Fire, and Sacramento Fire proudly deployed Strike Team 4801-C to the Palisades Fire in Southern California. 4801-C consists of 22 firefighters staffing five Type 1 engines, and one strike team vehicle. Our first U.S. Wildland Fire Service contracted Large Airtanker is officially in service, strengthening our aviation capability and providing another powerful tool to support firefighters who are working tirelessly on the ground. This C-130 airtanker carries up to 4,000 gallons of fire retardant, increasing our ability to deliver greater volumes of retardant and provide critical aerial support during wildfire response. Known for its versatility and ability to operate from shorter runways, the C-130 can reach demanding environments and support wildfire response where it’s needed most. 6 American Air Force soldiers crashed in Kuwait and safely ejected after a “friendly fire incident.” Kuwait mistook 3 US planes for Iranian aircraft. The pilots safety ejected and were assisted by locals. Kuwait put out a statement saying that the pilots in stable condition. Of note — one of our pilots is a female and appears to be safe. The 6 soldiers are still in Kuwait.
