Stanley Kubrick was "The biggest fan of 'Spoorloos' (1988)" according to its director, George Sluizer. Kubrick saw the movie 10 times. When Sluizer was working in Los Angeles, Kubrick called and discussed the movie shot by shot with him. Kubrick said, "It's the most terrifying film I have ever seen in my life." Sluizer asked, "But have you seen 'The Shining' (1980)?". Kubrick replied, "'The Shining' (1980) is just child's play. It is not frightening at all compared to your movie." P.S: On this day, 38 years ago, "Spoorloos" (1988) premiered at the Montréal Film Festival, Canada.
