I am still not sure who did the survey of this project and came with the idea .. this is so so so terrible .. no one is going to use this after 2-3 month or inauguration .. what a waste of money and resources

Can anyone from Varanasi tell me how beneficial it is? Is it to avoid busy city traffic? Why not metro then?

Generally rope ways are built for scenic hill station to enjoy nature view , why we need it in holy place, we can’t enjoy god and temples from rope ways , better to build good infrastructure for pilogrims

Is ropeway needed in Varanasi where many public transports are available? Varanasi is not even a hilly area.

This is seriously good stuff. I think this kind of progress will totally change how people view Indian infrastructure, especially those who thought it wasn't up to par. The only thing that's still a bit iffy is people's civic sense. India's really growing now.

In a dense heritage city with city-wide narrow-street congestion, this limited route is no substitute for better buses, traffic management, and drainage fixes. High maintenance costs ahead too. Flashy projects ≠ effective urban planning

Mexico City has Cablebus and Mexicable. Lots of people use them. Along with their good Metro, Bus network, these cable cars provide excellent way people commute in the city. They are very safe also. India should deploy them a lot.

South Indian states crying for basic infra like Metro but their taxes being spent on this bullshit in BJP ruled states! They won't have decent local buses but every city will be given ropeway and metro.

The 3.75 km system connects Varanasi Cantt railway station to Godowlia near Kashi Vishwanath Temple via five stations, designed to reduce congested road travel time from ~45 minutes to about 16 minutes while carrying thousands of passengers per hour.

Complete opening not possible. Godowlia station, most conjested and choked area is still atleast 4-5 months away from completion. Nearest station to Godowlia is Girjaghar, a technical station, no passenger commute. Only Cantt to Rathyatra section is possible

I don't find anything beneficial doing this, and risk factor already increased 🤔

Major boost to urban public transport in Varanasi. Estimated to cost ₹815 crore, the 3.8 km elevated corridor will connect Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station to Godowlia Chowk in just 16 minutes.

A useless vanity project. Could have upgraded all the public buses to modern a/c e-buses for the cost of this crap.
