Okay, attic kitten update time. I went kitten trappin’ this morning. Successfully caught all 3 at one time. Boy did they freak out! Stopped the video, and spent 2 minutes talking to them and reaching into the trap to pet them before they calmed down. I set them downstairs for a minute to interact with Skippy, their brother, and then off to the vet we went. They were very calm on the trip there and back, and at the vet too. Yes, I talked to them quite a bit along the way. The vet says I have 3 very healthy black kittens. Not even any fleas. The vet did give them a bath (did I mention they freaked out when I trapped them? Food went everywhere!). Vet says I apparently took very good care of them. Guess that is good, but it is great for the kittens!

Been up to the vet, most certainly a small stroke. He is much steadier, we’ve to have a couple of quiet days. I took the first two videos at 7am (to show the vet) and the other two just now, quite a big difference. Unfortunately he may have more strokes as time goes on.

We wanted to wait until the vet saw Bunsen but on Sunday night he pulled something in his back and had a hard time walking. On Monday he improved, but at times had trouble laying down. Today he is doing much better, no pain walking or laying down. The vet figures it could be a similar thing (slipped disc) that happened in his neck- big dogs and older dogs are at risk for it. With rest it should go away- and it looks like it is. So the big guy is back on light activity.

"The vet looked at me and said, 'It might be time to think about saying goodbye.'" Max stopped eating four days ago. Stopped getting up. I'd already started preparing myself. Then Buddy did something I will never forget. He climbed up on that exam table — something he's NEVER allowed to do — and he wouldn't stop pressing his face against Max's. The vet tech tried to gently move him away. Buddy wouldn't budge. And then, for the first time in four days — Max lifted his head. The vet just stood there. Didn't say a word. We're not out of the woods. The vet wants to run more tests tomorrow. But tonight, Max ate three bites of food. Tonight, Max is still here. I don't know what tomorrow holds. But I know I watched a Labrador refuse to let his best friend give up. If you believe dogs fight for each other the way they fight for us — drop a ❤️ for Max and Buddy tonight. He needs all the strength he can get.
