Yup - been automated since day one, though the original automation has been replaced with a modern CBTC system

@JesseRSFeld If I'm getting off at the far end of a platform at peak time, it makes sense to miss a train and walk to the end on the empty platform at home, to get ahead at the busy platform. The trains can't run anymore frequently as the bottleneck is now getting people off the platform.

Still amazes me London hasn't got screen doors on the majority of the network yet

Always amused by London visitor's faces to Manchester when the Metrolink minutes on the laser display board are in double figures.

Arrived at Pimlico from Melbourne in 2013 on a Saturday afternoon. Before we'd walked the length of the platform the next train was coming in. Note that London has a Victoria line. But not a New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania or Western Australia line.
